The RUAF Foundation, an international organization that brings together various partners in the field of nutrition and urban agriculture, in cooperation with the Aeres University of Applied Sciences, organized the first multiplier event of the Urban Green Train project in Almere, in the Netherlands, on March 30th.
The event was organized together with the sixth project meeting, in order to enable the participation of various partners in the Urban Green Train project. The staff and students of Aeres and Wageningen Universities and various representatives of urban agriculture projects in the Netherlands were present.

During the event, the most important milestones reached by the Urban Green Train were presented, such as the following:

Open-access instruction units in order to favor the creation of new urban agriculture businesses,
The urban agriculture and entrepreneurship course model and curriculum,
The catalogue of innovative urban agriculture initiatives in Italy, France, Germany, and the Netherlands.
The creation of the European urban agriculture cluster URBAN-AG in order to stimulate cooperation among small and medium-sized enterprises, training institutes, NGO's, and policy makers.

These results were attained through our work and make us proud to be part of this “train” of European urban agriculture.

Two Stops on the Urban Green Train in Germany Last May
A pair of multiplier events focusing on the cities of the future and the most innovative urban cultivation techniques.

The first was organized on May 16 in Waltrop, near Dortmund, and included 69 participants, in cooperation with the national project “CoProGrün” (Co-production for Green Corridors in Urban Areas) managed by RWTH Aachen University.
The main subjects included the cities of the future and the involvement of consumers in the production and distribution of food in cities.

On May 18, instead, the train stopped in Wuppertal, which hosted another multiplier event, where innovative urban cultivation techniques were discussed, with emphasis on hydroponics, a system already used with great success in various urban environments. The discussion focused on the necessary resources and training for intelligent adoption of this technique.
